Overview
Song Jin was killed by the Mad Lord during a rampage against Black Ghost Valley to obtain the power source of a Nether Crossing Ship. He later existed as a lingering soul haunting the repaired ship.
As a reward for completing his final wish, he gave Seo Eun-hyun a choice between 3 cultivation methods: Yin Soul Ghost Incantation, Thousand Lustrous Forest Sea, or Silica Earth Great Wall Practice.
Originally, he was going to become the new Hyeon Rang, but the Heavenly Venerable of the Underworld had him enter Black Ghost Valley and gave him the name Song Jin (淞津), meaning "Harbor of the Nether Crossing River".
History
At first, Song Jin was against acknowledging Seo Ran due to his dragon bloodline, but he relented after reading Seo Ran's mother's will and became his master in the 10th cycle.
During the battle against Yuan Li, he possessed Seo Ran's body, temporarily regaining the abilities of a Heavenly Being. He crashed the Nether Crossing Ship into the Black Castle to help Seo Eun-hyun defeat Yuan Li before succumbing to the Netherworld.
In the 12th cycle, he ascended to the Ancient Force Realm with Seo Ran, Buk Hyang-hwa, Shi Ho, and Kim Young-hoon to find a way to deal with Seo Hweol. They established a Black Ghost Valley branch there.
He allowed himself to be drawn into the Netherworld in the 19th cycle, dying at peace surrounded by his comrades.
